Entlaq released its first annual report on Egypt’s agritech sector, “The Untapped Potential of The Egyptian Agri-Tech Sector: Driving Innovation and Growth”, analysing the sector’s current state and the constraints shaping its future.

Agriculture contributes 11.6 per cent of national GDP, grew at a compound annual rate of 16 per cent between 2018/2019 and 2022/2023, and employs 18.1 per cent of Egypt’s workforce. Government investment in the sector has passed EGP 82.9 billion, with EGP 116.6 billion allocated for 2023/2024.

The report projects agricultural exports reaching USD 14 billion and more than 50,000 new agritech jobs by 2030, while identifying water scarcity, climate change, limited financing, weak infrastructure and a shortage of skilled talent as the principal barriers.
