Entlaq launched Egypt’s Tourism Sector Performance Report, produced in collaboration with El Gouna as platinum sponsor. The report examines the sector’s economic contribution and the structural constraints on its growth.

Egypt welcomed 15.7 million international tourists in 2024, the highest annual figure in its history. Tourism contributes roughly 8.5 per cent of GDP, generates USD 14–15 billion in annual foreign exchange earnings, and supports around 2.5 million jobs directly and indirectly.

Omar Rezk, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Entlaq, said the sector’s core challenge lies in value creation rather than visitor numbers, and that a unified digital and tourism-technology approach could double its economic contribution by 2030. The report finds that tourism licensing typically takes six to twelve months, involves between ten and sixteen separate approvals, and remains only 10–30 per cent digitised.
